Creepiest, bleakest places you've ever been to

I visited the DMZ in Korea in the mid 80’s. Outside the DMZ, the North Koreans have built a “city”. Lots of concrete and weird Soviet architecture. There is a massive North Korean flag flying and patriotic music blaring 24x7. You can’t visit it just view it from the ROK/US side.

The weird thing is no one lives there. Truly bizarre.

And the creepiest place is that abandoned mental institution in WV (we made a point of stopping there on the way out of WV) that now holds tours inside. It was closed on the day we drove through but I thinking of returning just to take the tour. It looked THAT creepy.

We visited and took the tour. It is creepy in there, really run down. I got a horrible upper respiratory infection a couple days after visiting. The mold is ridiculous, I had wondered how they were allowed to be open.

There is a town like this (abandoned, no nuclear catastrophe thank god) near Vorkuta in Russia. Chernobyl might be easier due to visa and logistics though. Just saying it’s not the only place like that.
Its nature on the other hand... some unique animal life there.

The worst energy I’ve ever felt anywhere was on an empty road leading to an open field in Cassedega, Florida. It is supposed to be a super high-vibe town. And for the most part, it was. But that road really got to me. I’m sensitive to energy and truly had a hard time breathing. I didn’t stay in that space long enough to even try to feel into whatever it was.

Lots of mediums and psychic there for real.

Puleese tell us more about yourself. I've already got some ideas. Education really wasn't your thing, right?

It's true. I've been there. It's known as the "psychic capital of the world". You might want to educate yourself before you comment

My family has roots in Central Florida and we've always known about Cassadaga. (Note correct spelling BTW) It's been around since the late 1800's. It was put on list of historical places in 1990's. Since the age of the internet it's changed a great deal and has become more touristy. Many of the spiritualists have signs out in front of their homes advertising their services. It's worth a visit to learn about the historical aspects of the town. Whether or not you want to spend money on a reading, is up to you.

+1. I was there in 1983. Couldn't wait to get on the train back to the West. Even the train ride was creepy.

Grand Rapids, Michigan. Basically, the Amway Dutch Belt. I was hit up by 5 different people selling Amway in two days. The Devos family is absolutely worshipped there....weirdly so.

Wow I was debating between Schenectady and Sandusky and you beat me to it! Creepy despair pits.

When I lived in Troy; Schenectady was the nice area. I feel like you didn’t travel enough around there.

A school that had been bombed by the Russians. Classes were still held in the 1/3 that was structurally sound.

Anonymous wrote:Salinas California. Drive through on way to northern ca. The local deli that we saw got great reviews on Yelp had bars on the windows and the town just seemed dilapidated.

Near Cumberland pa (on the way to deep creek). Weird downtown vibe. Sort of abandoned and sort of functional at the same time.

Do you mean Cumberland, MD?
