How much do you tip a massage therapist for a 60 minute massage?

I assure you, massage therapists aren't massaging out of the goodness of their hearts. Generosity? Lol.

But they have a finish that depends on the tip

then you can't afford a massage.

$10 every 30 minutes is standard tip.

I went to a Massage Envy and they had a sign on the desk saying that the normal gratuity for an hour long massage was $40. I paid it thinking I was just naive and now I feel stupid.

My massage envy in clarendon has $15-20 listed for 1 hour. Typically, you are supposed to tip $10 for every 30 min. You overtipped by $20.

Nothing. An RMT is a health care professional. I don't tip my doctor, chiropractor or dentist. Why should I tip my massage therapist?

I googled this question because I was confronted at a massage place. The massage was subpar. she didn't do parts and she went under the hour by a few minutes. So I tipped under 20% I had gone there previously and got a wonderful massage and tip 20%. When I was talking to the owner today, because the girl complained about her 12% tip, she said the other girl complain to about her tip. Needless to say I won't go bowling be going back there since they all complain about the tip.

I can't believe MTs are complaining about making 15-18$/hr. I have my Masters degree and over 100,000& in student debt, went to college for 6 years and I make $18/hour. If you only work part-time, it seems you should supplement your income by working an additional job. Ridiculous to complain about 35,000 salary when you only went to school for 6 months. I went to school for 10 times longer and make the same salary and work a full 40 hours. Now I feel like they definitely do not deserve a tip

Then please don't get a massage. What you don't understand is Therapist don't get that rate per hour. It's per session. There are times where therapists only have 2 sessions and are at their workplace for 8 hours. So if your therapist only had 2 sessions that day. That's $30 dollars in one day and you don't want to tip on top of that????? You definitely don't deserve a massage.
