UMD - in state but Spring admit w/o engineering
NC state with honors and engineering
VA Tech- engineering

We have one in college already so paying out of state would be difficult, but we could do it

This is the trifecta of Mid-Atlantic solid engineering. I’m an NCSU BSCE but I’d give the nod to in-state at UMD, although the Spring admit and no engineering guarantee give a bit of a pause.

Ultimately, not a bad choice among them. I don’t envy your DC’s decision making.

I vote VT

VT for premed? Any Internship and shadowing opportunities at nearby hospitals?

Which hospitals do VT kids go for shadowing or internships ?

Really, $ doesn't matter at all?

Syracuse is so pricey for a liberal arts degree. Makes me lean toward Michigan State, which has comparable school spirit. But I don't know the actual sticker price. All three are good.

Interesting choice. I’d probably lean Iowa, with Michigan State a close second. Iowa has more out of state students (though mostly Midwesterners). It also has a nicer campus, and the better college town.

Michigan State is closer and has better sports teams, but also has a bit of that “couldn’t-get-into-UofM-so-I-ended-up-here” vibe.

The Big10 schools are probably stronger for psychology than Syracuse. Plus there’s the Midwest nice factor, which shouldn’t be discounted.

Great admits. I'd go Brown as I think the quality of life would perhaps be the best there.

All great choices. I agree with PP about quality of life.
I think NU would also have that. Hopkins prestigious but a reputed cutthroat grind.
Mine decided between NU and Brown (for math and arts). Went with Brown for open curriculum and access to music.
All great choices.

No! This is so much fun! It’s why we are here, to over analyze and distract ourselves.

Agreed! It’s interesting (and hopeful) to see the variety of options and how people decide and weigh various factors. Plus, most of the comments have been relatively positive and helpful. Go DCUM!

I agree. How rare. Something positive must be in the DCUM water supply.

Hard to go wrong here. UChicago would probably be my top choice, but I’d visit them all and go with fit.

If she really likes W&M, I’d go the January start. Otherwise, maybe Gettysburg.

Mathis thread just picks the highest ranked school. So is useless.

My friend did ROTC at Tech and loved it.
Friend's kid went to Pitt premed. Well respected. Lots of great options.

No one is over analyzing. Just subjectively picking a fave out of equals. Or the highest ranked where there is a range.

Dumb.
