Recipes for crockpot meatballs and sauce from scratch?

I was asked to bring some crockpot meatballs to a potluck.

I'd prefer not to just chuck some frozen meatballs in bottled sauce ... has anyone actually made a dish like this from scratch and if you liked your recipe, can you share it? Thanks!
