I have a new (black) dishwasher and stove/range/microwave. Our fridge is quite old but working great and I don't want to buy a new one just for color. I am intrigued by these appliance spray paints but wonder if it comes out looking decent or not. Anyone ever done it?
Not sure about the other appliances, but for the dishwasher, you can purchase a replacement front panel online. I just changed mine from black to stainless steel. I found the panel on Ebay for $50. Took about 20 minutes to switch it out, and it looks great.
I've spray painted a bunch of things in my home, but I haven't done a huge item like the fridge. I used the appliance spray for my dishwasher panel and its held up well for 2.5 years. It comes out pretty evenly, but needed 2 coats and a light touch- I practiced on cardboard until I knew how the paint & nozzle behaved.
My mom had it professionally done in the 1980's. It worked well and looked good. I guess you could try yourself and if it doesn't come out, then get it professionally done.
Did it for a fridge on its last legs. It looked very amateurish and cruddy but it was an improvement over the rust stains we had. It got me through another year. The smell of the paint is atrocious - worse than regular spray paint.
