Report cards or written documentation for kindergarteners?

Anonymous

We just had a parent-teacher conference for our kindergartener, but didn't receive anything in writing, like a report card, or a progress report. Were we supposed to get something in writing? If not, when do kindergarteners start receiving some kind of written assessment? I seem to remember getting some kind of pass/fail assessment for my older child when he was in kindergarten, but that was six years ago and the memories are fading . . .

You'll get one at the end of 2nd quarter. Your child's teacher should have conveyed the information that would have been on a report card, but for kindergarten there is such a wide range of ability and comfort level that report cards aren't given until the end of the first semester.
