All Inclusive-Caribbean

Anonymous
Husband and I trying to plan a much needed vacation without the baby in Feb someplace warm. We have to fly out of NC (child care reasons) and I was surprised that Raleigh didnt offer any direct flights to the caribbean. Anyhow, we are overwhelmed with trying to pick a place. We are pretty open, cost wise, want a beautiful resort with excellent pools and beaches, decent food (as decent as possible at an all-inclusive). and potential to do some excursions outside of the resort. Any suggestions?

Sandy Lane in Barbados is beautiful.
St. John's has some nice hotels.

I second couples- we especially loved the Couples in Ochos Rios -San Soucci. GREAT food (and we've had a lot of crappy all inclusive food), friendly people and stuff to do nearby (the falls, exploring the city, etc) but we didn't really want to leave the resort. On the plus side, it was fairly inexpensive with really nice rooms. We read that they were "dated' but with fully tiled showers with seating benches overlooking the ocean as well as a separate sitting area and oceanfront balcony, we loved it!

I 3rd Couples, but we did Couples Swept Away Negril. LOVED it. Everything. IF I had to complain about something, it would be the bathroom - outdated and need of a little TLC, but really that was so minor and we were having a blast on the beach, doing the huge variety of activities, etc that the bathroom is so minor.

The food was awesome. The waitress said the fish is caught locally and each morning and it tasted like it too. Very fresh. The fruits are grown locally and are delivered each morning from the surrounding parishes. So fresh and exotic. Oh, and coffee is so good too. Loved the local faire.

We loved the sandals grande St Lucia but it's a bit of a haul if your flying out of NC, you will need to stop in MIA or ATL.

Seconded. I stayed at Couples Negril and thought the quality of the food was very good, as was the service.
