Anyone with Kids at Christ Episcopal School in Rockville?

I don't see it mentioned on here at all, but asking anyway.

How much of the curriculum is religion-based?

Are the academics challenging?

How diverse is the student population -- ethnic, religious, and income?

Any other thoughts?

More of a solid middle class group ( for MC).
Academics so so.
Strict.
Girls' uniform a bit impractical (no pants).
Teachers work hard, seem devoted.
Feels like a Catholic school in many ways.

Thanks!

Boys wear jackets and ties and apparently there is chapel every day.

We applied to the school for my two kids a couple of years ago. We liked the school. What stood out most were the caring teachers. There is 20 min. chapel everyday. They have a new interim Head this year. They have one class (18 kids) per grade except they’ve expanded their K and 1st to two classes. They currently are having problems filling the middle school. When we applied each grade was full. This year I know there are only five girls (no boys) in the seventh grade so, not good. The eighth and sixth grades have about ten kids. The small offering of sport teams and lack of a gym is probably most to blame for this. But, the school looks good for the younger grades.

Only 5-8 wear jackets and ties (boys only) for dress occasions (i.e. chapel). K-4 wear red sweaters. 5-8 girls may wear CES slacks. It doesn’t make sense to me that the K-4 girls can’t. The dress code is available from their web site.

I was told that the girls can't wear pants or leggings because they don't look good. That level of impracticality scares me.
