| I'm 34 and still get pimples and I also have blemishes. I feel like I'm too old for this. DH doesn't have an issue with it, but I do. I'm not a make-up person either so I don't try to cover them up. I don't drink much water but not a sweet person either. I've tried prescriptions, over the counter drugs and home remedies. My parents don't have acne so it's not hereditary as one of my friends suggested. Any good dermatologist in the area. I'm an AA women if that helps. What have used used that worked? |
| The only thing that works for me is lots and lots of water and glycolic acid pads every other day. I am 33. |
| Could be hormonal, stress or food related. For some people dairy gives them acne. Keep your pores clean. Daily use of topical antibiotics might work. No recs for derms though. |
| I'm 28 and have it. TTC so they won't give me anything strong. I basically have to wait until my childbearing years are over to be acne free. |

Yeah, I had acne that appeared in my late 20s, early 30s. It felt so unfair at that age! After trying topical and oral antibiotics, I finally got a prescription for the big guns-- Accutane. Much, much improved.
I'm in my mid 40s now and still have some occasional breakouts. If you really want to feel an injustice, try being in your 40s, pregnant, with acne, and with wrinkles in your cleavage when wearing a bathing suit! Acne and wrinkles should not overlap. (Pregnancy and wrinkles probably shouldn't either, if you can help it!) |
| I'm in my 40s and break out with every period. You can always call the doctor if you're worried about it. |
| my dad had acne in his seventies. not bad ones, but they were there. there is no such thing as too old for acne. thats why you have adult acne and elderly acne. btw, the problem can be genetic without being "hereditary" in a sense of your parents having them. |
|
Right there with you. Never had it as a teenager. But got it in my mid 20s.
A cleaner with gyclocic acid works well for me except for when I get my period. Then nothing helps |
| I don't have any advice, but as a photo retoucher, I see (and fix) TONS of photos of adults with acne. It's more common than you think. |
Me too! And age has not brought serenity about big old zits. |
| I'm 34 and AA too. The only thing that worked for me was stumbling upon a skincare regimen that worked. I switched from using acne medicated everything to a gentle cleanser (Purpose Soap), a retinol moisturizer (Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle), and three times a week St Ives Apricot Scrub. I also religiously clean my makeup tools: I use a daily spritz and once week shampoo them. It's made a huge difference. I get the odd hormonal-period zit, but the only time I get a bad breakout or huge cystic zits anymore is if I slack off on cleaning my brushes or try a new make up/skincare product that has a triggering ingredient. |
| Honey, I'm 54 and still rock a pimple now and then. The upside of my super-oily skin is that I have very few wrinkles. The facial ladies rave over my skin. |
|
No teen problem for me. Everyone in jr high/high school was jealous of my skin.
Then- at 20 I got horrible breakouts. I got them under control, but still had occasional breakout. I'm now 43 and switched to lower dose BCP and I'm breaking out every damn month. 43!!! |
Do you wash them with regular shampoo? I need to do this!! What is daily spritz??? |
| Clarisonic and Origins Cheeks And Balances. |
