Friendship Cake Starter Help....

Anonymous
I'm in the process of trying to make my friendship cake starter and I've hit a snag. I'm supposed to add 2 cups of sugar and 1 can of fruit cocktail every two weeks. I ran out of fruit cocktail and was two days late adding the ingredients. How can I fix this????

You can fix it by throwing the whole mess away. This makes a lousy cake, and who wants the "obligation" of accepting the starter stuff?

That is what I was thinking. I thought the cake was so nasty.

Gross. Toss this mess and get a better class of friends.

Good luck.

Thank you for all the positive feedback....I would really just like to make this cake and give it to my family....if they don't like it...oh well it's the thought that counts. I'm sorry if it doesn't meet the snobby DCUM standards. Can you suggest anything better???

Off to google "friendship cake"... I'm afraid....

I never seen a worse group of snobby miserable SAHM's in my life....these are the reasons I hate this area.

For the record I am an above PP and am neither a snob nor a SAHM. I am also not miserable.

You sure sound like it to me...all of you do. what joys your kids must be (not).

Wow. That went downhill fast. OP - one recipe I just looked up says that the juice stays good in the fridge indefinitely. Just put the sugar in ASAP, get the fruit tomorrow and it should be ok.

Also, I'll admit it sounds a little gross. You could just start a new starter from scratch to keep it going or better yet just say your kids were goofing off and knocked it over and it spilled.

Wow, the food forum is usually pretty snark free and and helpful. Even if you didn't care for the cake, there is certainly a better way to say it.

OP, I've never done the friendship cake thing but I know timing is paramount. You might want to just start over.
