| I'm just looking for good opinions....I went to H Mart today was shocked by all the options they have vs regular stores. I'm not at all really a picky eater, I don't have to eat everything organic, I like foods like pig feet, hog maws and chiltlins (only once a year right now if I'm lucky). I was raised and a house where my mom had us try all different kids of foods. |

I do not trust the meats at HMart at least the one in Falls Church, year ago, I saw something crawling inside a meat packet. That being said, I have purchased fish there, mainly rockfish and it's good. I have also purchased shrimp there and had to take it back as it was too fishy.

This sondes creepy.....this also happened to me at Giant also |
| Talapi from shanghai. |
| Where do you think the tilapia at Whole Foods is raised? Pristine Alpine lakes or something. LOL |
They'll tell you exactly where it's from. Usually it's farm raised in the US, which is best for the environment. |
+1. A huge percentage of the tilapia sold in the U.S. is from China. This article is quite an eye-opener on the subject of tilapia in general: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/05/02/science/earth/02tilapia.HTML?pagewanted=all |
| Tilapia is not even a healthy fish to eat. Full of omega 6 fats. Total waste of money. It does not even taste good. Why waste calories on such a nutrient deficient fish when there's Mackerel. |
Run away from farm raised!!! |
I barely trust the meat at Giant. PSA: If you see a pack of meat with a $XX Off Today! Coupon, don't buy it. I got burned three times where I'd buy one, only to get it home and see that it was red on the outside and brown and smelly on the inside. Safeway's meat is worse. It seems like it only lasts one day in the fridge before it starts to go off. And I keep my fridge around 36 degrees. |
| H Mart sells select beef (lowest quality) vs. Giant sells choice (med. quality). Prime is the best. You'll see the grade on the label or on a sign somewhere. We buy our meats at Giant or Costco. Whole Foods does have some nicer stuff, but there's a price associated with that. I can't speak to HT as we don't shop there. DH has a culinary background and is in the food distribution field, so he's a little more picky. |

Can you buy live Tilapia at Giant or Whole Foods? I am not sure that you can. Live Tilapia are farm raised in the US. Chinese Tilapia imports are primarily in the form of fillets and sometimes whole fish.
We go to Costco for American cuts of beef and chicken, but we go to Super-H or Great Wall for cuts that you can't find elsewhere. |

we got organic ground beef and boneless chicken from Costco, great price!
