Anyone have any books about Santa (non-religious) that they like for their wee ones? Thinking for the littler set -- those who may be aware for the first time this year? Reindeer acceptable too! |
Santa isn't part of the religious aspect of Christmas. |
Yeah but I've seen a number of kids books that intermingle the two. Trying to avoid that. |
I don't know any specific books but there are some cute ones using "Twas the Night Before Christmas" poem that captures the season and magic of Santa. |
NOw that you mention OP, I have never came across such book! Usually it is all in the movies... I can't wait to start watching it with my 3.5 y. old this year all the classics and start the Santa magic! She is already excited about the idea of Santa and I didn't even really begin mentioning. |
Try The Grinch Who Stole Christmas. Santa Claus is based on the legend of St. Nicholas, and yes, even there is no direct religious connection between the two, it's almost completely impossible to talk about Santa Claus without Christmas coming up. |
The night before christmas really sums it up. |
Um. It's CHRISTmas. Why even celebrate it if you want to avoid the religious aspects of the holiday? |
OP here - because I like presents.
Good grief. It has a secular component now, whether you like it or not. I want my kid to enjoy the make believe that Santa brings to the holiday. |
You want a Night Before Christmas book. |
Barnes and Noble surely has their big Christmas book displays out by now in the childrens section. I would just go peruse the offerings. |
What is your comeback to French people? Italian people? And many other countries in which the holiday's name has NONE of this Christ nonsense on it? |
Um...you need to look up the meaning of "Noel" and "Natale" Noel means "news" as in good news (which is a reference to the gospel). It also means "Christ's birthday". Natale means "birthday" or "Christmas". |
They are just using their country's word for "Christ's birthday". |
You are note the sharpest knife in the drawer. Thanks for the giggle! |
