Pre First

After all this talk about holding boys and girls back with late Birthdays I was wondering do the DC area private schools have a pre first program. The Baltimore area private schools have pre first to deal that exact issue of social maturity.

Pre First? Like a red-shirted first grader, taking an extra year between K and 1? Never heard of it...though I do know of a family (outside of DC) that had their son enrolled in K at one school and then repeated K at another school, as a way of holding him back. Same thing, I guess.

Nah, most will do another year of K--maybe even enroll in a strong, academic program for second year in a private school. Otherwise, most are holding their kids back at 5 in kindergarten complements.
