Would you go private for hs or moco public? Do you think the same kid gets an advantage from private over say BCC?
Depends on what you mean by "advantage" and depends on the kids, his/her interests, etc. You can answer this question many ways. For us, private had huge benefits over the experience of our neighbors at BCC. In 9th and 10th grades, the smaller classes allow privates to work more on writing and teaching many intangibles that serve them well later. Not saying some kids can't figure it all out intuitively or learn it in a large school, but for most kids I believe the privates give that edge. College counseling is far better -- at least in our private -- than at BCC. If you are in the full IB program I understand that counseling is better than in rest of the school at BCC, but hard to imagine it is still as individualized as private. That said, obviously BCC has its share of graduates who go to top schools, so if you are measuring advantage based solely on placement, the calculation is far more complicated to make it apples to apples.

if you are asking do kids at b-cc go to top schools then the answer is yes but who cares, as long as the kid is happy where they go and not the parents forcing some top school down their throat.
