Part time day care options

Anonymous
We are on the wait list of a full time daycare in my husband's building but I am debating going back to work only 3 days a week and am having a hard time finding part-time daycare that isn't a nanny (way too expensive and I do want DD to learn the social skills that come from being in a group setting). Anyone have any ideas of where I can start looking?

thanks

Every place I looked charged by the full week, regardless of how often a child attended. But I was looking at age 3 and younger.

Where are you located? What area are you willing to travel to?

My amazing in-home daycare provider recently posted a message saying that she had a 2-day/week slot--see http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/32040.page . It might be worth your while to call her and see if she could do three days--I'm just not sure what exactly she's looking for. She's in Petworth DC, is open 8:30-6 and has been really wonderful with my son. Feel free to PM me if you want to hear more about her.

I have a in home daycare in Adams Morgan and specialize in part time care. If interested I would be happy to give more information. You can email lanierlullabies@yahoo.com or call 202-288-9135.

The other thing you could do is to advertise here for someone with a child of a similar age and in a similar geography -- and then go looking at daycares together. Then you would come as a package and they wouldn't have to worry about finding someone to split the daycare spot.
