What does it feel like when baby hiccups?

Anonymous
I know this might be a silly question but the baby books say that the baby should start hiccuping around the 24 th week or so.
I am at 25 weeks and was wondering what it feels like. Is it something I cant mistake or is it something more subtle. Thanks for the input.

To me, it felt like tiny repetitive twitches.

not subtle at all; you'll know it when you feel it. Little jolts every few seconds. Very cute

I don't think I felt it before 32 weeks with either pregnancy. It feels very strange, more of an all over movement than a single kick. It is rhythmic and very noticeable.

It's kind of a strange sensation and took me a little while to figure it out. I didn't really start to feel them until around 30 weeks. But that could depend on baby's position. Now my little one gets them at least 1-2 times a day!

To me, it doesn't feel like regular kicks, which tend to be erratic and much stronger. For me, it is a gentle rhythmic tapping, every 1-3 seconds in the same place (e.g., in my case way down by my bladder, since baby is head down). It's more subtle than kicks/movement, but definitely noticeable. I have found that my entire belly doesn't move though. For me they last about 3 min to 10 min max.

I also didn't feel them until later on, like 31 or 32 weeks. Once you figure out that's what the repetitive motion is it is unmistakable. My DD had them every day (sometimes several time) in utero and once she was out still had them every day until she was about 3 months old.

I also didn't feel them until closer to 32 weeks. With my first, that boy had hiccups constantly, and they were hard to miss. With my second, I barely remember him having them at all, so don't worry if your baby doesn't appear to get hiccups a lot. I actually read somewhere that the more hiccups a baby has, the more likely he is to have acid reflux. Don't know if this is true, but turned out to be the case with my first son (horrible hiccups/horrible acid reflux) vs. my second (few hiccups/no a.r. or colic).
