Oh god. Nearly all my spices come from India.
|
Ha! It's not just spices, and it's not just India. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/10/26/fda-approved-rat-hairs-an_n_773608.html#s165326title=Pizza_Sauce_30 You'll never eat anything again! |
| I think this should be expected. I assume that there is some percentage of bug material in every processed grain food. It would be impossible to get rid of them all. |
| And people are worried about their apple peel touching the grocery basket... |
This when I returned from a trip to India I would eat an apple straight from my grocery bag. No rinse etc... I fingered if I survived what could a little rat poop or pesticides do? |
| I think the mass market spices are irradiated. That should handle anything biologically active. |
|
Yet a billion-plus people in India seem to be surviving just fine!
I only buy spices from Penzey's or Kalustyan. I hope their quality control practices are good. |
