Infertility Support and Discussion

I am five wks pregnant after doing injectibles, but I learned today that my hCG is very low (74 - only slightly elevated from a week ago), while my progesterone level is very good. My doc says it is almost certain I will miscarry, although there is a very smal chance things might still be okay. I will re-test later this week. I am resigned to this sad news, but just wondering if anyone out there could share their experiences (good or bad) following similar news. Assuming I do miscarry, any idea how soon it will happen? When can I start trying again? Thanks so much in advance. |
Unfortunately, it sounds like a chemical pregnancy.
Unfortunately it doesn't sound very promising. I'm so sorry. As far as when things will happen, that is partially up to you. I think you can wait and see if it happens naturally or you can have a D&C. After that some doctors try to tell you to wait 3 months before trying again but some say it is fine to start trying right away. I am of the opinion that unless someone can give you a good medical reason not to try right away, and you feel mentally up to it, you should go ahead. But some people prefer to wait a few cycles so they can heal mentally and physically or so that they don't have to worry about "what ifs" if they get pg again right away. Be gentle with yourself.
It's OK to preceed ASAP after a chemical but not with a miscarriage. With a chemical...you just wait for your HCG to go to zero and free to start trying again.I got pregnant a month after my HCG went to zero. Good Luck!
OP here - Thank you for all your replies, and for your support. I really appreciate it.
Sorry to hear that. I agree that you can try again right away, if you're emotionally ready.
