Anyone here with no insurance know how much it cost (average) for an ultrasound and a test like Amniocentesis?

| I know an ultrasound is normally about $275 when I have one BUT that is what they charge the insurance company. Normally, if you are paying out of pocket, they will charge you less. Submitting invoices to insurance companies eats a lot of man hours etc. I believe my amnio cost $1,750. |

| I had several ultrasounds during my pregnancy and they were each about $475 - that was the original charge before insurance. There are many places in this area that do these, so I'm sure you could call around and ask what they charge and whether they would be willing to reduce the amount for an uninsured person and then go to the lowest one. I have read (online) that sometimes doctors/hospitals are willing to negotiate and reduce the amount charged if they are paid in cash/upfront - if that's an option for you, you could mention it and see if that helps out.
