Needing to buy a new toilet, but wasn't sure what I should be looking for (other than functionality - my 7 yr old has a tendency to clog!). Any advice?

Toto. Our contractor insisted on it
Toto. Replaced Kohler with Toto in two bathrooms. No regrets.
Toto, definitely.
OP here: this is great advice. I would have just picked the basic Home Depot model. Any other thought? Elongated vs round? Dual flush? Etc. thanks.

Toto Drake (which I don't think you can get at home depot)
Check if the HD one has the same flushing mechanism as the Drake. the other stuff is personal preference |
We just gutted all of our bathrooms and I have two "boys" (i.e. son and husband) in the house. I specifically told the contractor I needed something that will flush! We went with all Toto, but I did NOT go with comfort height. Personal preference, but if you're not tall or have kids, comfort height toilets will be too uncomfortable - you'll be on your tippy toes sitting. Now my husband is 6'2", so we could have gone comfort height for him, but he said he didn't care and I did. I've used comfort height toilets in hotels, and hate them. Now, once I"m old and retired, I might change them out for comfort height as its easier to sit down on them, but that's quite a few years away.
PP here. I forgot - ours are the more expensive Toto toilets that you can't get at Home Depot either. I think they are Toto Drake, but not sure. We ordered them through Fergussen's.

More fiber? Will make his excrement less dense.
But Toto is the best. Our kohler is nothing but junk and trouble. |

The Drake is the cheapest one that still has the better flushing mechanism. It's the workhorse Toto. At least when I was in the market, which was, actually, a few years ago. Maybe 8.

We love our toto!!
We have 2 toto drakes, will replace the others soon. Round in a small powder room, otherwise elongated.
Yep Toto, got at Plumbing Parts Plus in Rockville
