Post nasal drip causing bad breath

Anonymous
I think my husband has a bad case of post nasal drip that is causing very bad breath. It recently started and is getting progressively worse. It's really affecting our relationship b/c it's so bad and I'm so turned off.
He has bad allergies and its not a bad breath smell - it's worse do this is why I think it is post nasal drip. And yes, I have told him, yes he was embarrassed and it was awful and yes he has a dental appt and an appt with his allergist but I am looking for insight!!

What can he do for this?? I need your help!

Nasal spray will help. Not breathing through his mouth (which can happen when you're stuffy) and brushing his tongue.

The allergist or an ENT can help.

Who could help with tonsil stones? A dentist? ENT? Who would you see for that???

And how do you prevent them?

Yep tonsil stones. I get them nonstop and they make me want to cry. There apparently is no prevention and only you can remove them. I have little gag reflex and I can push mine out weekly. So nasty. I've heard that waterpiks work well, but haven't tried that yet.

It's gotten so bad that I really would love to have my tonsils taken out. I was told you'd be out of work for roughly two weeks though and I'm saving for maternity leave....

You should google the youtube videos of tonsil stone removal. They are truly horrific.

So you just take care of them yourself? There is no treatment?

No treatment whatsoever. And the older you get the worse a tonsilectomy is. Apparently bleeding to death is a concern.

I'm sure doctors can take the tonsil stones out, but they come back constantly and you couldn't go to the doctor that often.

Has he tried an antihistamine to help stop the post nasal drip?

Yes, he is on a daily regimen. I don't think it's working.

Has he gotten a throat culture just to make sure it is not strep? That can have an AWFuL smell.
