Maryland Schools - not so great after all.

Not really a fair comparison. The states that did really well have a populations that are significantly whiter than MD. When you look at the performance of each subgroup, MD is often in the top 2 or 3. When compared to the highest ranking state (Mass), white students usually did about as well, and black and hispanic students often did better. So, when actually looking at the data, MD seems to be doing extremely well.

Who said anything about race? Illegals are from many countries. They come here for free education, free ER visits, ESOL, free meals for their kids, food stamps and subsidized housing on your taxes all while not paying any taxes. If you educate yourself you will see the decline with the Maryland schools has been in the last 10 years when illegal immigration to this state has shot up 350% due to a very liberal government, Casa De Maryland, and the public education taking away paraeducators, arts, music and lower ratios to get new ESOL teachers which have all increased by 200% since then as well. Doesn't work. The state's education is still going in the toilet.
