There's a Japanese hibachi type place across the treet in the same University Mall strip as Brion's. in the back,there is a fabulous Thai place. Avoid Best Deli (it isn't). Second Bernie's Deli on Ox rd past campus toward old town ffx.

there's a decent deli in the shopping strip behind the Fairfax regional Library Branch Cheap, but no ambiance...

If you want a bit more "special" then Bellissimo (Northern Italian) on Main Street in Fairfax City.
