Where to purchase sectional for basement

Anonymous
We just finished the basement of our older colonial.

We need something that will fit through older door frames so it can not be oversized.
We have young children so I expect there will be spills / and it will take some abuse.

Any ideas for a brand / where to shop near DC? People frequently recomend Belfort - but I feel that when I have been there much of the furniture is targeted at newer homes with larger spaces.

Thanks

we had good luck at macys. they have a huge online selection as well. Price was good and we found a nice leather set that the kids can abuse. all sizes. there are a couple macys home stores in the area to see in person.

We have a macy's loveseat/sofa that is 8 years old and in perfect condition. Large son in college with large friends. We tried to get another set recently but their was a long wait-out of stock. Macy's leather sets on sale were cheaper than comps from other vendors.
Our alternative was ikea fabric pottery barn knock-off. Took 30 minutes to assemble and replacement cushions are available.

Also it's easier to get through tight hallways etc. Delivery guys put it where you want it to be assembled. A sandby is $299 and replacement slipcovers are available. A big hassle is getting rid of worn out furniture. I have a monster sofa in my basement- at least the ikea ones you can take apart.

Both Belfort and Hamilton's have smaller sofas (and both sell a lot of the same stuff). What they have in the showroom is just particular configurations of each sofa line. But you can look through the books and find another configuration that works for you. We have a beam in the middle of our basement rec room that constrained the length of the sectional we could get. We looked through the books to find one that would fit and they showed us what example of that line they had in the showroom. But ours is a walk-out basement, so our constraints are different from yours.

Room and Board. Our doorway is tiny and they managed to get the sectional into our basement.

We got ours at Urban Country and no problem with normal doorways. A sectional comes in sections so no different than any furniture really.

Simplicity Sofas - small Carolina based furniture company but made especially for tight fits. We bought a basement sectional and have been very happy with it.

Love Sac - tysons. Comes in pieces. Totally washable. We love it.

R&B sofas are awful nice if the OP thinks the kids will beat it up.

We went to the thrift store. Bought a couch, some tables, lamps and a nice pair of slippers.

We went to Bob's, bought a huge sectional for like $599. if the kids DONT ruin it, that would be a surprise.
