| What are your tips? We have a 2yo and a 5yo. What foods are good to bring? What to pack? |
| What is car camping? |
| Car camping? Sounds miserable. |
| Do you mean just sleeping in your car? |
| PPs, I think "car camping" means driving in your car to a camp site. |
How else do you get there if you are a family and not going as a group on a bus? |
| Definitely bring all the fixins for smores. Yum. |
vs walk camping? |
you can drive to the campsite (car camping) or hike to the campsite with a backpack on your back (backpacking) |
| What in the world is car camping? |
If you want to a camp in a place where there are no roads, then you park your car and hike to the campsite with all your stuff. |
|
some campgrounds are meant for you to drive to and park your car next to your site. This is car camping.
If you want to get out into the woods - you put everything in a backpack - park your car at the trail head and HIKE to your campsite. I can understand why OP is choosing car camping with little kids. |
Sigh....

| If yon go into the travel section, there are a few good threads with packing lists and food ideas. People put a lot of it into the lists that were posted. I'm not good with the search function, or I'd post the links. |
exactly people shouldn't be posting on this thread if they don't know what car camping means. obviously you won't be able to answer OPs question. I have not yet attempting any camping with my kid - maybe next year. |
