(I just posted about making cake in advance for a party...)
Making cupcakes from a cake recipe. The cake recipe makes a 2 layer 9 inch cake. How many cupcakes is that? 24? I need 30 cupcakes, so I can 1.5x the recipe if necessary, but any chance that the batter will bake 30 as is? |
| I believe it would be 24 - think of a standard box mix. You could maybe make 30 very small ones but I think it would be pushing it, as it doesn't seem like 24 cupcakes from that size recipe would be generous as-is. I always fill the cups with too much batter! |
| 2 nine inch rounds hold 12 cups of batter. Muffin trays hold between 1/4 and 1/3rd cup, depending on size. So you should be a safe bet to yield more than 30. |
| OP here... silly me didn't think to just test by volume. I've made the cake before and know the pan fills up about 2/3 of the way. So I just tested the volume of water and each pan does come out to about 15 cupcakes, so I think I'm safe with one batch. |
