What do you prefer?
Do you care? I always had female GPs but mine is moving so I am thinking about getting a make GP. |
| I prefer female. I would like the doctor who does my annual exam to have experienced it herself. |
| My GYN is female. My internist is male. My cardiologist is male. I've been with my internist since I was born and have had him do my PAP a couple times to eliminate the extra doctor visit. I absolutely love him. He knows me without reading my chart, he is interested in my life, he listens to my concerns. I wouldn't trade him for the world. That should be how you judge your doctor, not by gender. |
Is this internist in the DC area and if so, would you share his name? |
| Female internist - always and male cardiologist. Like the PP, the cardiologist has known me since I was 19 -- he knows about my life and career and I feel like I can talk to him about anything. For internists -- I've had to switch as I've moved cities, so I typically I go with females. Even if they aren't doing a gyn exam (and they not all internists will do it) -- they tend to always do a breast exam at a physical; I find it really uncomfortable with a female so I don't see myself handling well with a male. |
| It doesn't matter to me. I just look for someone with a good reputation who is friendly and listens. |
| I prefer a female OB/Gyn, and a male internist. |
