Ruan Thai portions have diminished-then again, all of them have.

Nava Thai, Wheaton
Bangkok Garden, Bethesda
Ruan Thai, Wheaton

Since these are really good, they tend to be more authentic so, spicey. Even though I'm sure they can accommodate, you can find milder tastes in not as authentic Thai restaurants or even a Malaysian restaurant, like Penang.

Agree with Ruan Thai, but we thought Bangkok Barden was lousy. If you want less authentic but excellent, and are willing to travel into the District, try Paragon Thai in Cleveland Park. Sala Thai in Bethesda can be good but it's very hit or miss and the service sucks. When it's good, though, it's very good.

Uh Sala Thai is not in the same league as some of these places.

I was not impressed with Nava Thai at all-- got their green curry and thought it sucked. Did I go on an off day? Happy to try again.
