Please recommend a pilates class/studio

I am trying to find a good post-partum (or very gentle!) pilates class to get back in shape after having my second child. I was previously taking a chair class in another city before moving here and enjoyed it, but am also interested in a good mat class. Can anyone recommend a class or studio? We live in Arlington - has anyone ever taken the classes offered by the county?

I have been taking Pilates for a long time and would recommend Claudia, the Pilates reformer teacher at Washington Sports club (I think she also teaches elsewhere). You don't have to be a member to take her classes, but it does cost (although less than personal training). You can also take a demo class free before signing up. There are a lot of people out there calling themselves Pilates teachers, but Claudia really knows her stuff and is very helpful. She also gives private lessons. If you're thinking about a mat class, I'd really recommend trying the reformer (the machine) first. For more info, call the Chevy Chase WSC.

I liked the class I took at Joy of Motion. It was a real ass-kicker, but totally doable.

In Loudoun County, try www.fitnessdesignsolutions.com - Jennifer has a private studio, fully equipped, in her Sterling/Potomac Falls home. Private, personal, tailored to what you need. I look forward to my weekly lesson - it is my indulgence for myself.

I second Joy of motion. There are 4 locations. Reasonable prices and you do make-ups if you have to miss a class.

Quantum pilates in south Dupont Circle is also good. Very well trained instructors, one who just had a baby herself.
