Anyone have one?
Thoughts? We are looking in the $880-1000 range and our top choices right now are all Kitchenaides. Our biggest priority is a dishwasher that fits a lot of dishes and has a heat drying feature that actually dries, even plastic cups. Thanks! |
| the best, make sure you get the one with the disposer not the filter then you don't need to pre-rinse. |
| I used to have one, and I loved it. They do a far better job than most at drying the dishes (I was told it is because the heating element wraps all the way around the compartment, and isn't just in the bottom). I replaced it with a Bosch, because it was quieter. I liked the Bosch, but the Kitchen Aid is better if you want size and dry dishes. |

Had a GE Profile, died after 4 years. Hated that dishwasher as it was poorly designed adn barely held any dishes.
Replaced with Kitchen Aid, much happier! Didn't look at Bosch or Miele as I hear too many problems and expensive to fix. |
| Don't waste money. Go directly to the Meile. But I wanted quiet over dry plastic. |
| I love my mine! I've had it for 7 years and it is still quiet and does the job. When it finally dies, will be replaced with another Kitchenaide |
| We just got a Kitchenaid in the price range you are looking at. It's been about two weeks. We narrowed our choices down to Kitchenaid and Maytag, as they both have the built-in disposer option. Other brands did not seem to have this. So far, we are pleased. It cleans the dishes really well. Drying, not so much. Not sure if there is some setting that might do a better job than we are getting. Everything is wet when I open it in the AM. I thought the stainless steel tub would help with this, but really no better drying than our previous GE with a plastic tub. We don't really care that much, though. Pretty quiet. Only thing we are not liking is the thumping of the water pipes that happens when the thing starts. Seems like this could be a problem over time, but we are not really sure what to do about it. So, overall, I recommend it, but you are really focused on complete drying, I don't think this is the one for you. |
The thumping may be due to water pressure you can get this with the right fitting http://www.amazon.com/lighting-and-ceiling-fans/b/ref=sv_hi_2/175-0968783-0524565?ie=UTF8&node=495224 |
| We've had ours for about 15 years and we're on well water. I really need a new one and was thinking not another KA. It hasn't been cleaning well for at least 3 years and I practically have to hand wash things before loading. |
PP here. Thanks for this, but this link goes to the general lighting page on amazon. What exactly should we be looking for? A water pressure regulator? |
| We've had a Kitchenaid dishwasher for 10 years now and it's been great, quiet too. The only thing the other day the spring on the door broke. Has that ever happened to anyone? Did you try to fix it? |
Ours was so loud I could hear it changing cycles from my bedroom on a different floor, it didn't clean glasses well. Whe the spring broke after one year, we happily trashed it for a Meile. |
You must have had a bad one. Meileis inferior to a good kitchenaide. http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/news/2013/06/2-700-miele-dishwasher-a-middling-performer-in-our-tests/index.htm |
quick fix, if not then you have an issue with the dishwasher http://www.amazon.com/Sioux-Chief-Mfg-660-H-4-Inch/dp/B000H5MQNM/ref=pd_sim_hi_1 |
| We've had our $800+ KA for 4 years or so. Love it. So quiet that my parents often don't know it's on. DH and I have better hearing, so we hear it, but it's quiet. We put everything in it and it works great, w/o much pre-rinse. I scrape the large chunks off and that's it. I do a better pre-rinse with banana, avocado, or yogurt - those don't come off as well from the silverwear. Nothing else gives us problems. Plastic stuff is dry w/o spots (we use the finish tabs for soap). |
