Sidwell vs GDS sibling policy

Anonymous
I'm applying for my oldest DD this year for kindergarten. She's very outgoing, did well on her playdates, scored well, etc. If hell freezes over and she is accepted to both Sidwell and GDS, which school should I pick given that her younger sister is EXTREMELY shy. I am very concerned that when it's time for her sister to apply, younger DD (who is only a year younger) won't "perform" as well and therefore risk rejection. I certainly do not want kids in 2 different schools. I've heard rumors that Sidwell is not as consistent with accepting sibs as GDS. Anyone hear something similar?

The sibling policy at Sidwell is not as strong as at GDS. Nevertheless, I would pick the school that best suits the child applying this year. We're applying for K as well. You've already had playdates for Sidwell and GDS? Just curious (nosey) about the timing, as we haven't yet.

Playdate at GDS. Sidwell is next month.

I wouldn't rule out the idea of different schools for different kids. One of the advantages of independent schools is that you can look for an environment which is the best "fit" for an individual student.

I think the idea of different schools is particularly important for the younger sibling of an outgoing child, especially if they are the same sex. The younger sibling may really struggle in the other's spotlight. Shy children tend to really well at some of the smaller schools like Concord Hill.

Don't worry about it now. If she's accepted at both, discuss your situation with the ADs.
