Gift giving for teachers at Jewish preschools

Anonymous
When my child was at daycare, collections were always organized to give caregivers a cash gift around Christmas time. Now that my child is at a Jewish preschool, I'm not sure what is appropriate in terms of gift giving. Can I give the teachers a Hanukkah gift, maybe a gift card? The school does not organize anything. Thanks in advance.

You are lucky you do not need to buy them anything.
Hannukkah gift giving is only practiced by some american jews, and this is to family members only. In other regions there is no gift giving at hannukkah

Enjoy, you do not need to get anything

Maybe a package of bacon...
She'll love it!

As an American Jew myself, I think it would be appropriate to give the teachers a holiday gift. Often their salaries are very low, and gifts are extremely appreciated. Gift cards are a great idea!

Not every teacher at a jewish school is jewish themselves. I grew up going to a jewish school and we always gave gifts to my teachers. It certainly doesnt have to be anything extravegent - a gift card or something of the like is always appreciated.

My family is on its third Jewish preschool (don't ask!)...We have always given hannukah gifts and end of the year gifts. And the vast maj. of the teachers are Jewish (virtually all- I can only think of one that wasn't).

This is OP. Thanks to people who gave serious answers to an honest question.

This would be a great year for gift cards to the teachers. THat way they get the "end of year bonus" without it looking too much like a Christmas gift. Plus, Hanukkah is SOOOO late that I can't imagine there's a Jew in America who couldn't put a B&N or Borders card to good use this December.
