Recent feedback on Rock Creek Valley ES?

Looking at a house that feeds into this school. I know quite a bit about MCPS and the curriculum but not much about this school. Any current parents have feedback?

I don't actually go there but have a friend who has two boys there. Said the principal was fantastic and teachers were mostly great. The boys are very smart and they said the school was challenging, school found ways to advocate for good students to keep it that way. Like I said, heresay but I would feel comfortable there. Always nice to hear good things about a principal.

My son is in second grade at RCV. We like it. In all honesty I haven't had much interaction with the principal or anyone outside of our teachers, who have been fine. Nothing fabulous, nothing terrible. I am not happy that my 2nd grader is in a portable and not allowed to go inside for bathroom or water except at the 2 set times a day. Aside from the portables the facility is nice. The school isn't overcrowded which is also nice (my son went to K at another MCPS that was very overcrowded and undergoing renovations during the school year, so I have some basis for comparison.) Wish the aftercare provider was KAH rather than Bar-T, but not a major issue. There are some after-school activities, though not a ton.
Bottom line: a fine public school.

We're not there yet, but all our neighbors with older children speak highly of it. They've mentioned as positives the small size, real feeling of community, and good principal. Based on what I've heard, I have no reservations sending our kids there.

I am also hoping to get an update on this school.

Have a third grader at RCV. We like it. We came from another MoCO ES. In comparison, RCV seems much more like an old-fashioned neighborhood school. Class sizes seem reasonable (my child has 22 in the 3rd grade class), teachers are nice, there are activities but not too many.
I like the relatively small size and the fact that the surrounding neighborhood is small enough that we see kids and families from school out and about a lot.

I too have heard really good things about the school. Would feel comfortable if not excited to have my kids there.
