| Anyone know of such a thing? I'm a SAHM and would like to do something to keep my resume up to date even if it's not a big money maker. My background is in public health and nutrition. I've written a lot of government publications and have a few papers published in peer reviewed journals. Just looking for a place to start! |
| I think FHI360 and Westat have nutrition and public health projects you could look into. Maybe you can get on their consultant registries? |

There's no such thing as a "freelance position." If you're a freelancer, you sell pieces (either completed ones or ones written under contract) to anyone who will will buy (and who you want to work with, of course), but there's never a guarantee that your next piece will be bought.
Your experience sounds pretty relevant; I think your next step is to learn more about freelancing in general, and start working your contacts from your previous job. |
| hey, could you post your email here. I might actually have a job lead for you. |
| Thanks all. I'm new at this and my two previous jobs were federal. I still have a lot of contacts but now doesn't seem like the appropriate time to ask those people. I thought I'd explore some other avenues in the meantime. Email is rlo1976@yahoo.com I appreciate any leads. |

Would appreciate leads as well. Similar background and experience. Majority of my contacts are in government or with government grant supported projects. Tough timing, looking at new avenues.
Thank you! |

Correcting prior poster who said there is no such thing as freelance positions. totally wrong!! Increasingly there are regular freelance gigs where you contribute a blog post or a thought leadership piece on a regular basis. Not sure from your brief description if your focus is more academic or commercial, or how much you are interested in straying from your main area of expertise, but if I were you i would visit the websites of health care companies, biotech firms, that sort of thing and see what kind of content they are offering. It is all about thought leadership these days ... businesses, foundations, etc., creating their own content. And good writers are still hard to find.

OP here. Thanks for the recommendation. I was able to apply to few registries this weekend and hopefully will get some feedback. If anyone can think of other places to apply please let me know! TIA. |
| You should find your favorite publication that write about this topic and apply there. |
