DC government jobs - how long does it take to hear back?

| I have applied for several DC government jobs. I feel like I am highly qualified for a few of them, but I haven't heard back yet. If you have applied for a DC government job, how long did it take to hear back about an interview? Do they let you know at some point if you are no longer under consideration? |

About a month. Also when we hired it would sometimes take forever to get back to people, like three months. Other times we would advertise, but then lose the budget.
Seriously though... You don't want to work for the DC gov unless you are really desperate. |

OP here. Thanks for the info. Do you think the government shutdown and DC's FY2014 budget not being released could have anything to do with not hearing back?
What part of DC government did you work for? What was so bad about it? |
