| I am trying to plan an MLK trip -- we usually go out west during Spring Break but it is just too late this year and not sure I want to make the trek for a four-day weekend (no school on Tuesday). Was thinking of trying West Virginia but have never skied the areas, Snowshoe looks decent (teen aged skiers are advanced intermediate) but housing prices are crazy expensive. Also thinking Maine but fear it might be too cold that time of year. Thoughts, or suggestions? |
| I think Snowshoe is the best place to ski in the Mid-Atlantic. Nothing is going to compare to the West, but for this region, it's decent. It's a long drive though - I would try to make it a 4 day weekend. |

We went last year for MLK - did a 3 day weekend. Monday and Tuesday will be pretty uncrowded, Sat and Sunday very crowded.
Housing depends what you are looking for and how old your kids are. We usually do a studio (NOT a Jr Studio) in Allegheny Springs or equivalent place and it's big enough for 4 for a weekend. The studios have full kitchens so you can do your own food. |

We are going to Tremblant over MLK weekend. We are flying Porter Airlines (one stop in Toronto) to Tremblant on the way there, and then flying back with US Air from Montreal (direct). (Porter only flies certain days of week from Tremblant). We booked our hotel early with a 35% discount. I think the discount is still something like 30% if you fly now.

that should be if you book now (not fly now).
I'm sure it will be cold in Tremblant. We plan to prepare for cold w/ face masks, hand/foot warmers etc. |
