| Hi, any advice helpful. Moving to the area from Connecticut. We have 3 kids. My husband got a job in Arlington. We want to know if possible to find a town that has a 4 bedroom, ceiling of 800,000 with great public schools with a decent commute ? Is that possible? If so please share any towns that fit the bill. Plan to go to open houses soon. Thank you! |

Vienna
Could get something small in Arlington. Falls Church City (not Fairfax County) |
| South Arlington. |
| If work is at metro I'd consider MD, will be a better cultural fit from CT and you can get into good Montgomery County schools in Bethesda/Rockville at that price point. I'm from New England and didn't realize how different Virginia was than Maryland. |
| When you say 4 bedrooms, how big of a house do you want and how new? |
OP said decent schools |
metro? |
| Op : size 2500 plus sq feet? Flexible on house age. |
| Metro only important if drive time over 30-40 minutes. |
| What is the difference between falls church and falls church city? Are they both good school systems? |
| Part of the address Falls Church is in Fairfax County schools. Some Fairfax County schools are very good (McLean, Vienna), but some of the ones around Falls Church are not considered that good. Falls Church City has its own school system that is quite small and many like it. |
Most of 22046 is Falls Church City which goes to a very good school (George Mason) which has had that reputation for a long time Part 22046 is Fairfax county which goes to a very good Fairfax county school (McLean) which has had that reputation for a long time Part of 22043 is Fairfax county which goes to a very good Fairfax county school (McLean) which has had that reputation for a long time Part of 22043 is Fairfax county which goes to another very good Fairfax county school (Marshall) which has had the "good" reputation in the last 5-10 years The other falls church zip codes(22042,22041,22044) are in Fairfax county which go to poorly rated schools. |
| Can you tell us what you like aesthetically (small town vibe, typical suburb, wide open spaces, etc.)? There are plenty of options. |
| My experience with CT has always been in neighborhoods without sidewalks and everyone with their own pool - I would look in Fairfax County. You will need A/C! No house fan only. |
