For a co-worker...what is appropriate?
|
If several co-workers pitch in together, and the recipient wouldn't consider it too intimate because she knows her co-workers well and is friends with them, a gift certificate for a post breast surgery massage might be welcome. They offer these at Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa in Tysons, I believe, and possibly other places, too. Maybe hand-made coupons for things like home-cooked meals or an afternoon of running errands that she could "redeem" when she needs them. Or if she's going to work from home while recuperating, maybe something that would make working in bed or in a chair more comfortable or easy. |
Love the coupon idea. Anything to pamper is a good idea. Mani/Pedi or even a nice lunch. Even a movie pass. One of my friends took up knitting to get through chemo. She presented us all with beautiful scarves and thanked us for supporting her. That was very special.....but I honestly feel a girl needs pampering when going through this tough time!! |
A friend had breast cancer a while back, and she liked books on tape/CD b/c she was often too tired to read. |
Oops, sorry, should have read more carefully. Books on tape would probably be more useful if she's also doing chemo/radiation (or depending on how long the recovery period from the surgery is, I guess). |
I sent a good friend of mine some crossword puzzles and a tray table. That way she could work on them in bed while recuperating at home. |
