DH and I have about $100K in stocks and bonds, plus retirement accounts that are primarily invested in target funds for 2030 and 2035. We only have about $20K cash, including cash that is needed for immediate expenses. We've always considered bonds to be our "conservative" investment and keep our "emergency fund" in bonds, after getting fed up with low interest rate returns on cash savings. Obviously, that's one of many things about our financial picture that would change if the US government actually defaulted on it's debt. Should we move things around now? Are other people changing their investment strategy on account of debt ceiling uncertainty? Or am I just getting overly nervous with all the doomsday political drama? TIA.
