The CTP-4 is the formal name for the ERB test that many independent schools use as their internal yearly standardized test for current students. It has an achievement component (reading comprehension, writing ability, vocabulary, quantitative achievement) and an ability component (verbal and quantitative). I think Holton uses the achievement components and not the ability components. The achievement components indicate how you would perform in a classroom, shows what you know. The ability components indicate potential. In terms of studying, you can make sure that your child has mastered the basic skills in math and reading comp as you see in any workbook (summer bridge series for example that you can pick up at Barnes&Nble). I would make sure you are mastering skills at a grade above the one you are applying to. It is all multiple choice so I would make sure your child knows somes strategies for how to do a multiple choice test. no penalty for guessing so they should answer or guess at every single question. I hope this helps.
