What prestigious colleges are easiest to get into?

I know, impossible to define "prestigious" and "easy" and so many variables. That said, what's your answer?

Penn State
the all women's schools (e.g., Mt Holyoke, Smith, Bryn Mawr)

The all-women's school listed by the PP are not easy to get into!

Not easy, but easier than similarly ranked coed schools (I'm not the pp, but I went to one of those women's colleges).

Why are you looking for a college solely on the basis of its perceived "prestige?" What kind of school would be a good one for the student in question? What is the student interested in studying? Urban or rural location? Large or small? North, south, midwest, west? Is money a factor? Does the student thrive in a competitive environment or is a more cooperative or nurturing one important for this student to do his/her best?

emory and carnegie mellon.

both have overall acceptance rates a good 5-10 points higher than peers.

after that, penn state has huge name recognition relative to its ease of acceptance.

But that name recognition has been tainted in recent years.

Sorry but the words "elite school" and "Penn State" don't belong in the same sentence.

i did not mean psu is elite.

however if you created a: acceptance rate/employer name recognition index, it would rank extremely high.

yes, somewhat...but middle-class company recruiters still go there in droves.

your military contractors, engineering firms, cpg companies, etc.

and name recognition hasn't been really tainted much in terms of grad school...i.e you write a 170+ lsat and get a 3.7+ gpa, you are extremely likely to get into a t14 law school from psu.

write a top mcat and have good science gpa, med schools aren't going to hold it against you that you went to psu due to the sandusky scandal.

+1. My 7th DD has already declared that my alma mater (one of those women's colleges mentioned) will be her safety school.

You have 7 DDs? How do you afford college?

With all due respect would not consider Syracuse, Penn State and to a lesser degree Tulane prestigious. Yes they are known but not prestigious...lets not confuse the two.
