dish drying rack

We have an ugly plastic rack alongside our sink. Just wondering if anyone has a better/prettier way of drying dishes they hand-washed (and I'm not talking about hand drying them with a towel.)

Blow on them!

I use this drain board

Bigger stuff we dry by hand and we put a ton of stuff in the dishwasher, running it off often.

The only things I've seen that look good is the Eurpean style cabinet over the sink with a wire rack bottom. Open cabinet doors, place wet dishes in, and they drip dry behind closed doors.

I use these. They're cheap, work well and fold up when you're not using them.

This is what I use too. I have several, so once everything is dry and put away and I want my counters clear I throw it in the wash.

another vote for the dish drying mat - if you're using it for the occassional hand wash, it's a tidy and effective way to let dishes or silver dry - we keep ours stored with dish towels and pot holders

I use the plastic one but keep it hidden under the sink when I'm not actually using it to dry dishes. might be an option for you.

Another one here who uses a dish drying mat

I just leave them on a dish towel. I hate drying racks.

Hadn't heard of a dish drying mat before but I think we'll get a couple. Thanks.

I just dry them, can't stand clutter

I use this fold-down rack from the Ikea Grundtal line. You install the bar on your backsplash and this hooks on. Then I use the drying mat underneath it. When I'm done, I fold up the rack and store the mat behind it against the wall.

We keep a stainless dish rack with a black mat on the counter by the sink. Our sink and fixtures are a mixture of stainless and chrome and our counters are black granite, so it matches. For formal entertaining, we put the dish rack under the sink. For casual entertaining,we leave it out.
