How's your school reacting to Shutdown?

Just curious. Did they say anything? Teach anything? Reach out to affected families?

How would the school know the parents occupations???? I don't think they are paying attention to my workout apparel compared to my business apparel from last week.

Our daycare asked. In the past when there was economic uncertainty, the daycare had been very generous to people.

I spoke with the principal at our school to see if there was any flexibility with before and aftercare. She said they are looking into it knowing that there are families who have less financial flexibility than others.

I do not think they have said anything. My older DD (8) is aware of what is going on and she has friends that also have parents that are feds and off work. At this point I am not sure what they would say about it.

I am just grateful that I am out of the daycare/preschool cycle (youngest started K this year) so only have aftercare to manage right now.

I have been picking up early but my kids love aftercare and the oldest gets all her homework done there so I have not wanted to disrupt the routine too much.

IT brought it up at the PTA meeting earlier this week in the context of let us know, we can see in what capacity we are able to assist. This could be as simple as connecting resources in the community and/or understanding what kids are feeling uncertainty at home.

That didn't pass in the Senate. The Senate wants them to stop playing games with partial measures "to ease the pain" and to just fund the government and let people go back to work instead.

Back pay and no upcoming payday is different. Bills are current and late-payments will be in effect. So this hooray about back pay is hog-wash. Back pay means you have to catch-up and that's more harder than you think.

Trust me, I know it's hard, I'm doing that dance right now. But it's still getting paid to do nothing in the end. Even if you didn't ask for it. Everyone loses, but you can also lose and get free money through no fault of your own. The whole thing is awful for so many reasons.
