Public schools from California to Florida are celebrating LGBT History Month, where they highlight a homosexual or lesbian each day.
http://www.charismanews.com/us/41256-public-schools-celebrating-lgbt-history-month What (if anything) is your DC's private school doing to celebrating LGBT History Month? |
Nothing, but we go to a parochial school so I wouldn't expect it there! We just celebrated the Feast of St. Francis today with an all-school Mass, followed by a blessing of the animals. ![]() |
What are they doing? Hiding it well |

Nothing but we are gearing up for amputee history day |
Our kid's k-8 is not featuring anyone LBGT but then, it (thankfully) does not highlight ANY minority group simply because the calendar tells it to do that this month.
Instead, the school hires a lot of gay, Asian, hispanic, black, etc faculty and administrators, and weaves diverse voices throughout the curriculum. |
They shouldn't be doing this in lower school. |
GDS, Sidwell, Sheridan and WIS are the most gay friendly private schools in DC

Maret? Field? Burke? Plenty of schools in DC are gay friendly. |
Have other PPs actually read the linked article?
I'm shocked that the OP considers the following legitimate reporting, and not so shocked that schools might choose to highlight LGBT history. From the linked article: “The sexual assault on our children is mind-boggling,” Staver adds. Earlier this week, Staver was in federal court in New Jersey challenging the new law that bans minors in the Garden State from receiving counseling to overcome unwanted same-sex sexual attractions, behavior or identity. Liberty Counsel has already challenged a similar law in California. Washington, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia have introduced like measures that insert the government between the client and the counselor." |
GDS has been LGBT friendly for years. The school has a Parent Gay-Straight Alliance ("PGSA"):
The Parent Gay-Straight Alliance ("PGSA") is a group of parents, teachers and staff, gay and straight, working together to support the well-being of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered ("GLBT") individuals, their families and the GDS community. The PGSA is a discussion forum and an educational resource that fosters respect for diversity of many types and promotes greater awareness of GLBT issues that affect the members, the school and our community. All are welcome to participate |
are you kidding me? ![]() |
DC's tranny teacher brought in cupcakes. |
Our private is doing nothing. We're preparing for the PSATs, as we should be doing. |
