| I'm a furloughed Fed who tried to file for unemployment in DC, where I work, yesterday. The web site asked me whether I have forms SF-8 or SF-50 and said that I won't receive unemployment unless I do. I have never received or even heard of such forms. Our HR sent around a memo stating we are on furlough, but that's about it. Does anyone know anything about this? |
| You must have received a SF50 when you received your first or last personnel action (WIG, step) |
so it is a standard form HR issues as part of a step increase? But I don't have a copy of it. Presumably there is a copy in the personnel website, but I have no access to it right now. |
Yup, it is in the electronic personnel file. It's unfortunate that you do not have access. Perhaps you can request a new password. That is what many of my associates did to get a copy of their last SF50s. |
| The first one you received was when you were first hired. Grade, step, position change, etc change will produce another SF50 |
| Thanks to everyone. I now got the SF-50 off of the personnel web site (luckily the web site was operational) and sent it to the DOES. |
| The DOES website also gives you an option to input the name of your agency and allows you to proceed without the forms. I did it this morning, good luck. |
OP here. I did complete the application yesterday, and it did say that it was "successfully submitted", but the language concerning not being able to get reimbursed without the form made it unclear whether the benefits would be awarded after all. I feel safer having sent in the SF50, not to mention that they probably need the salary info to determine the amount of benefits. |
