Thought I'd share since this saved me some money and we're all looking to save...
I've had a 300 minute cell phone plan for probably 10 years, and it's only about $35/month. If I were to increase my minutes with Verizon, I would pay a lot more, probably $30-50 more because their plans have changed. I occasionally go over my minutes because I don't have a landline, and it's not worth the extra $30-50 to add one to my Fios plan. I figured out I could use Skype on my cell phone, and for $3/month, I get unlimited domestic calls. So whenever I make an outgoing call from home, I will now use Skype and the call go out over my Fios wifi. I will still use my 300 minutes for any incoming calls, and for outgoing calls when I'm not on a wifi network, but I thought this was a handy thing. Much cheaper than increasing my 300 minutes or getting a landline. To do this, you need the Skype app, and you have to set up an account on their website for domestic calls (of course, they do international calls too, but I don't need that). Hope that helps some of you... it was a big help to me. |
