Hilaria Baldwin - At it again

And she apparently didn't learn Spanish beyond a basic, present tense level. There are videos of Alec imitating his wife's accent in interviews. Again, she doesn't even appear to be fluent in Spanish, so did she fake that accent all the time at home, or is he outright lying?

Why? Her life seems totally bland and normal. No real story.

Well, honestly, only in the U.S. are Spanish people considered "Latina" or not white. You can be Spanish and speak Spanish and look like a "white lady."

Why not just be who you are, even if that’s someone who loves Spain and Spanish culture and the language? That’s all fine if you like it! You don’t have to pretend to be from there. Just be you.

Thank you! How hard would it be to say, “my name is Hilary and I had the great fortune of spending a lot of time in Spain growing up. I have a deep appreciation for Spanish culture and food and look forward to sharing that with my children.”

Agreed. My grandparents immigrated from Sicily. My dad was raised in a mostly Italian community in NY and PA but moved down South when he met my mom. I am a grown Southern woman who has absolutely embraced my Sicilian heritage and studied in Florence to get closer to my roots. (My grandma died when I was there so I came back to attend her funeral so didn't make it to Sicily yet.) However, I am friends with other Sicilians and we whoop it up Sicilian style every weekend- homemade pasta, pizza, molto vino and much laughter. Along the way I have added to the Italian language I know from studying there and we have an absolute blast with our love of our heritage. My grandmother didn't become a naturalized citizen of the US until after my father was born so I do qualify for dual citizenship if I choose to pursue it. (lots of paperwork) However, I was not born there and have never presented myself as full Sicilian. I have been completely welcomed as family by other Sicilians and Italians here and in Italy.

She could have done the same without the blood. Her love of the culture would have opened many doors with not only Spaniards but with Spain. She would have been a good spokesman for travel to Spain but went about it the wrong way.

Only someone deeply disturbed would double down on their fake Spanish identity after this kind of public reckoning. Just get off social media for a few weeks and come back like you never had an accent! Is that so hard??

Yes. The doubling down reeks of arrogance and privilege. Like, how dare you question me?

Or maybe he really loves his wife and knows she's fragile and quite dim.

I think he loves her but this seems to highlight how they are both fragile actors and both have deeper narcissistic vulnerabilities. And they have not been married very long. I am sure behind the scenes obviously is vastly different than their public personas...there is the real relationship and issues and there is the baldwin family persona they co created. Both want to believe it. He has money and power and he is also aging, and probably feels the heavy responsibility of this large family, among the other challenges of aging. She has probably had long term identity struggles and emotional difficulties based on her eating disorder history and she has become intoxicated by social media and looks there for her validation. She came to believe her created story. They are both psychologically vulnerable obviously. And they have a gaggle of other lives to worry about no matter how many nannies they can hire. They are carrying a lot and the bubble has popped. Maybe they can grow from it and develop some greater empathy and humility. Time will tell.

This. 2 narcissists who are not doing well with being found out. Alex was absolutely in on the lie. Now others in their orbit suffer. Alec forces his daughter to defend stepmummy. I am sure Hilaria's parents and bro are being hounded by the press.

She is deeply disturbed. You don't pose in you undies and keep showing your boobies in the name of telling people not to body shame especially when you are or perhaps are not recovering from eating disorders. I went to a University where women with EDs were a dime a dozen and they all, every single one of them, claimed to be into body love and promoting healthy living right up until they entered an outpatient or inpatient program for the 5th time.

She profits from this exotic "how you say in English? cucumber?" persona greatly, but people even here post "oh y'all are so mean....so much hate...by the way...look at this video mocking her, but I am much nicer than you. If she wants to profit off of being fake it is her business guys." What they need to do is make massive donations to help poor immigrants and others. Every single dime Hilaria makes and has made should be donated. They need to admit wrongdoing and stop being so entitled.

You are so invested. I hope you can move on.

Alec is just pi$$ed the world now knows he is not the best actor in that family.

You can be a white American, speak multiple languages and celebrate/partake in multiple cultures.

I am sure she is full of crap.

Former private flight attendant for the extremely wealthy and famous.

Each child of everyone I have flown has usually had their own nanny - very rare for there to be more than one child per nanny. More often than not, the nannies were foreign/bilingual and the children would speak in the nanny's language. Not unusual for the children to have a dead on Spanish or French accent when conversing with the nanny. They are usually separated during the flight and from what some nannies told me, usually during most of the day. The parents and their guests flew up front and the nannies and the kids were in the back.

I am not believing she has EVER been mistaken for a nanny. She is just trying to let us po folk know she is down with us. And if her kids aren't bilingual, she picked the wrong nannies.

Will you do an AMA? I would totally read that.

You are a totaly hypocrite. OH I am tooooo nice to care about people being annoyed with a privileged white girl lying and profiting from an never ending lie, but look at this HILARIA-ous video mocking her. Choose a lane.

Grow up. Really. Not a good look.

Not PP but she's right. This video is cringe, try-hard, and not funny. Stop promoting your crap here.

This woman looks like a buffoon, but otherwise what? Such a tempest in a teacup.

I’m curious about she said in the video about moving around a lot? Like put clothes in suitcase, move to Spain, two weeks later move to US, one year later, move again???

It’s pretty well-documented that her parents have been in Boston up until their retirement when they move to Spain in 2011/2012. I don’t know about Spanish schools but I’m guessing it’s not easy to slide in and out of schools. How could it be, which is why Americans abroad often send their kids to the American School of whatever place they are. In the video, she also said “American” high school when she was talking about the Hilary/Hilaria thing so she leaves the door open to make you wonder was there another non-American high school because most people would just say high school.

Her nuclear family (mom, dad, brother, brother’s Spanish wife, nephew) are the only people living in Spain, but Hilaria said in one of her early videos that about 40 family members came from Spain so it was a “really great party”. Now she is saying family and friends and Ireland said she felt so lucky to meet her “chosen family” at the wedding.

It’s like she leads you don’t the road to believing what she wants you to believe without actually saying it and blames you for getting it wrong because she never said that. That mommy podcast interview is exactly the same way.

If you take her answers to questions and actions about Spanish culture, her crummy Spanish fluency, her parents uninterrupted Boston-based careers, and her evasiveness about precisely how long and when she lived in Spain, it really calls into question any alleged "time" over there. She seems to employ a lot of surface-level stereotypes about Latin culture, not Spanish culture.

You think Celeste Barber posted that video here on DCUM? She has 7.5 Million followers, she is quite famous in her own right. Hilaria only has 872k followers by comparison (and Alec has 1.9M).

Crazy obsessed, and at the same time, sheltered DCUM mommies.
