I have a soon to be four year old and we live in Dupont and I'd like to consider public school, in particular, Charter schools. Any advice on which ones are good and why?

I would go through the archives to start--this question has been asked and answered at least two or three times.

Very true. It's apples and oranges. You've got to just hit the pavement and see what fits for you.
For official and most recent results, student demographics, and self-assessment reports (like how far in debt they are).

Short answer: no charters in Dupont itself. Some suggestions that are in the official report below. Not all inclusive.
Relatively close, positive feedback: Capital City, DC Bilingual, Bridges, AppleTree Columbia Hts.
Not so close, positive feedback: EL Haynes, Two Rivers, Latin American Montessori Bilingual.

Before any boosters of Yu Ying chinese immersion add to the list above, it is NOT included in report because it just started in September.

Hope this helps a bit.

Hi there. Ross Elementary is the Dupont neighborhood school. Another option might be Thomson at 12th & L. There was a good article about it in the Post about 2 weeks ago. You can Google in on the Post site. We are planning to use it as our backup if we don't get in Charter or out of bounds.
