Did your school say anything about the shut down?

Anonymous
I just received an email from our headmaster regarding the shut down and letting parents know that if they were (or will be) impacted financially, they should call the office to make financial arrangements. I thought that was a really nice gesture.

Yes, there was an assembly today where the students were told in graphic detail how it was all the fault of a small faction of Republicans and to remember that later when they are old enough to vote.

I'm serious.

And exactly which Republicans are they going to vote against in the peoples republics of DC and MD?

I think its great that Van H's peeps are getting a break from those grueling jobs.

Well, none, at least in DC. Can't vote against any Democrats either, in a way that matters in Congress.

Just reunite the District with Maryland. Problem solved.

Please tell me you are kidding. And if not, would you mind naming the school? This is so inappropriate on so many levels, I don't know where to start.

I'm calling bullshit unless a school is identified.

Great. At least there are some people telling the whole truth.

This is all bullshit, because GS 12's who pay tuition month to month don't attend your vaunted big 3, or 6 or 12.

Tuition has been paid already. If you qualify for month to month, Grand mom is writing the check. If scholarship, there is not an issue.

No kid at a fancy private school in DC will lose his/her slot because of the 'shutdown'

Glad the 'Headmaster" is flexible, but I have 3 in these places, and 2014 is paid already.

Did you happen to notice that this isn't the Big __ schools forum? No siree, you are reading and posting on the forum for all "private and independent schools" in the area -- which includes a whole slew of non-public schools in the 3-state area that are attended by kids of GS-12s because the tuition is not, in fact, $35,000 per year.

When we were at a DC private we paid month to month and Grandma (and Grandpa) didn't pay one cent. Some people are just so ignorant. We aren't Feds either. We just aren't as privileged as so many families at private schools.

That's what school is for.
