There are 5 of them in the white mountains and I'm curious if any are suitable for kids who love to hike.
Thanks! |
| How old are the kids? |
| There was an article recently on them in either the Post or the New York Times. I don't recall any kid aspects being mentioned, but a lot of details were addresses that might be helpful or at least interesting to you. |

Yes. Fine for kids if they can do the hiking.
Mispah is especially kid and family friendly. It's lots of families' starter destination. |

| There are also (IIRC) two lodges, which are at the bottom of the mtns instead of the top, so they are larger. |
| I have been, several times: the lodges bunk by gender, guys in one room, girls in another. It is better than sleeping outdoors, and usually, 99% of people are totally exhausted, so whatever sounds or odors there are are not an issue. If there is bad weather, the place will seem like the Ritz. Also, I hiked up Mt Washington when I was like 25; it is a tough hike, even in summer. The tree line is like 2,000 feet below the summit, so you are very exposed. But it is amazing place! |

did not find the huts bunk by gender. rooms were mixed. maybe sometimes by gender. |
| The lodges do not bunk by gender, don't know about the huts. |
